Announcing District Rotaract Project Mamatva: Champions Maternal & Child Health in RID 3250

Rotary International District 3250's Rotaract Project "ममत्व (Mamatva)" focuses on maternal and child health in Bihar and Jharkhand during September and October 2024. The initiative promotes safe pregnancies, child immunization, and maternal mental health.

The Rotary International District (RID) 3250 has announced a district-wide Rotaract project titled "ममत्व (Mamatva) – Embracing Health & Wellness" for the months of September and October 2024. This initiative is aimed at promoting maternal and child health, which are considered the pillars of a healthy and prosperous future for any community. The project focuses on safe pregnancies, child immunization, and maternal mental health support, ensuring healthier families and a brighter future for society.

Motherhood and child health are at the heart of this initiative. The project aims to address critical aspects of maternal and child well-being, including ensuring safe pregnancies, providing adequate healthcare to newborns, and offering mental health support to mothers during and after pregnancy. Through these efforts, RID 3250 hopes to create a more supportive environment for mothers and children, which in turn will lead to healthier families and stronger communities in the long term.

Organized by the District Rotaract of Rotary International District 3250, the project is set to roll out across Bihar and Jharkhand, two regions where healthcare, particularly for mothers and children, is in need of increased attention. Clubs participating in this project are encouraged to organize events and initiatives that focus on maternal and child health. This can include activities such as health camps, vaccination drives, mental health workshops, and other community outreach programs aimed at supporting mothers and children in need.

Rtr. Saloni Arora, the Project Chairperson, and Rtr. Prathama Bose, the Project Co-Chairperson, will lead the initiative. They have encouraged all clubs within the district to actively participate and engage in the various activities planned for this project.

"Mamatva is not just about physical health, it is about embracing the entire process of motherhood with a holistic approach, addressing both the physical and emotional well-being of mothers and children,” said Rtr Saloni Arora.

Additionally, clubs are requested to stay in constant communication with their Zonal Rotaract Representatives (ZRR) and Zonal Rotaract Secretaries (ZRS) for updates and further instructions. A separate communication will be sent out regarding the reporting requirements of the project. Each participating club will be expected to submit detailed reports on their activities, highlighting the impact made in their respective communities.

In a statement, District Rotaract Representative (DRR) Rinku Kumar expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the importance of maternal and child health.

“A healthy society begins with healthy mothers and children. Through Mamatva, we aim to address the most crucial aspects of maternal and child well-being. By ensuring that mothers receive the care and support they need, and that children are vaccinated and cared for, we are building a stronger foundation for future generations,” said DRR Rinku Kumar.

The project also aims to raise awareness about maternal mental health, which is often overlooked. Many mothers experience stress, anxiety, and depression during or after pregnancy, and the project will strive to provide them with the resources and support they need to navigate these challenges.

For any queries related to the project, clubs are encouraged to contact Rtr. Saloni Arora or Rtr. Prathama Bose for guidance.

By promoting maternal and child health through this Rotaract initiative, RID 3250 continues to work towards its mission of building healthier communities. The Mamatva project aligns with Rotary International’s focus on disease prevention, treatment, and maternal health, and is a testament to the district’s commitment to social welfare and community service.

As RID 3250 launches this important project, it encourages every Rotaract club in Bihar and Jharkhand to take part in this collective effort to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children, ensuring a brighter, healthier future for all.
